Q COSTA RICA – In June the consumer price index (CPI) rose by 0.08%, with accumulated inflation in the year being 1.01% and the year-on-year figure 1.77%.
The groups with the highest contribution to the CPI variation in June were: Transport and Food and non-alcoholic beverages. Of the 315 goods and services that make up the consumer basket, 54% increased in price, 32% decreased in price and 14% did not change.
In June the goods and services that had the greatest positive effect were: coriander, tomato and tourist packages. On the other hand, gasoline, automobiles and avocados were among the main products with the greatest negative effect.
When analyzing the year-on-year percentage change in June in the last ten years, it can be seen that the highest one was in 2008 with 12.82%; while the only negative interannual variation (-0.88%) was recorded in 2016.
