One Of The First Costa Rican Women To Vote Died At Age 90

Q COSTA RICA – With only a few days away from commemorting 67 years of being one of the first women to vote in Costa Rica, Bertalia Campos Montero, passed away at 90 years of age.

Bertalia, along with 25 others, including Bernarda Vasquez, on July 30, 1950, became the first Costa Rican women to vote in the country.

Thet voted in a plebiscite to to decide if the residents of La Tigra would belong to San Carlos or San Ramón, both in the provice of Alajuela.

 

Allan Jarra of Allanjarranoticias reports that Doña Bertalia passed way in her sleep at the San Carlos hospital.
