Q COSTA RICA –  A heavy truck that took out five, count them five, light posts in Pavas, across from the U.S. Embassy, left thousands of residents of Pavas and Rohrmoser without electrical power for hours.

The incident occurred around 7:00 pm Tuesday night, at the intersection in diagonal to the embassy. No injuries were reported.

According to reports, the load of the semi-trailer made contact with the overhead power lines, that included a high tension line, to the ground.

The Compañía Nacional de Fuerza y Luz (CNFL) was able to restore power to the residents of Rohrmoser by 9:30 am and promised to restore full power to the residents of Pavas by 9:00 am.

Meanwhile, the intersection continues closed to vehicular traffic, the CNFL saying that although power will be restored, it may take the rest of the day to get all the cables, etc sorted out and allow traffic authorities to re-open the intersection that affects both east-west and north-south traffic.
