Avianca announces reorganization and layoffs in its Costa Rica operation

The Colombian airline, Avianca, confirmed on Monday that it will make layoffs in its operation in Costa Rica, without detailing the number of workers that will be affected
The airline has more than 1,000 emplouees in Costa Rica
The company attributed the decision to a corporate transformation plan that “adjusted its route network and reorganized its technical and human resources.”
“This process will result in an adjustment of the structure of different areas to be consistent with the efficiencies of the company and will be with respect to the Costa Rican labor standards,” Avianca explained in a written statement.
The airline, employing more than 1,000 people in Costa Rica, did not specify how many people will be laid off, saying only it would be a few dozen.
