A woman who worked as a nanny will be spending the next 20 years of her life in prison because instead of caring for and protecting a 12-year-old girl, she took advantage of the moments alone to abuse her.

The woman, identified by her last name Baltodano, 49 years of age, on Tuesday afternoon was condemned by a Tribunal Penal de Nicoya (Nicoya Criminal Court) as guilty of the crimes of rape and sexual abuse.
The events for which Baltodano was convicted date back to March 2010, in Barrio San Martín de Nicoya, when she was working as the young girl’s nanny.
According to the investigation of the Fiscalia (Prosecutor’s Office) and the evidence provided at trial, instead of taking care of the little girl,
