The María del Milagro París Pool in Costa Rica

The María del Milagro París pool, in La Sabana, needs to be replaced. It’s been patched up here and there just covering up the inevitable. It’s one of the few pools in the country that meets the size and location requirements for official swimming tournaments but it’s useful life is coming to an end.

It could be temporarily repaired but that would cost ¢100 million. It now is recommended that it be entirely replaced instead of repaired again because if fixed now it would soon fail again because of its deteriorated state.

In 2014, it had both structural failures and obsolete electromechanical systems. This year, these problems occurred again. It’s so bad that the engineer of the Costa Rican Institute of Sports and Recreation recommends
