The Government is going to invest $30 million to teach English, part of a plan to make Costa Rica bilingual. The investment will be carried out in 2019. It will take English classes to various regions.
The Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Education and National Institute of Learning make up an Alliance for Bilingualism. This group started six months ago and enrolled 5,382 people.
The Ministry of Labor plans to enroll 3,500 in English classes taught by native teachers from England and the United States.
The Ministry of Education will define a baseline for diagnostic tests in tenth and eleventh year students as well as technical schools.
Another part of the investment will go to teaching 5,000 preschool students English.
