The nations of Central America received $12.7 billion in direct foreign investment last year. With the exceptions of Honduras and Panama, they reported drops ranging from Nicaragua, by 53 percent and 3.2 percent in Costa Rica.
The annual report of the UN Economic Commission showed that Panama amounted to $6.5 billion, just over half of all the foreign investment in Central America. Costa Rica received $2.7 billion and Honduras $1.2 billion, El Periódico reports in Spanish.
